NAV has a duty to provide an interpreter when required so that you are able to communicate with NAV and understand your rights.

Who can be offered an interpreter?

Everyone is entitled have it considered whether they need an interpreter in a guidance interview with NAV. This also applies to those who are migrant workers from the EEA area.

NAV is responsible for assessing whether you need an interpreter and orders the interpreter. Inform NAV if you think you need an interpreter in a guidance interview. 

Who does the interpreting?

NAV uses professional interpreters. Family, friends and children cannot act as your interpreter.

An interpreter may be a person who physically attends meetings, or a telephone or video remote interpreter. NAV considers what the best option is.
